Book 2 of series 2. Go back if you have not read those!
Percy is back in the game, but his memory is shot. He can only slightly remember Annabeth and that’s about it. He is trained by a wolf and told to follow a feeling to the Roman Camp. Being attacked by monsters, while not remembering anything of your own past is a pain and he just wants to head to the sea because he knows he can protect himself there. So when an old woman shows up and tells him to carry her to the camp while defending her from the monsters of course he does it because she tells him it will be the first step to getting his memory back.

Two words! LOVED IT!

The Great Prophecy : “Seven half-bloods shall Answer the call. To Storm or fire, the world must fall. An oath to keep with a final breath, And foes bear arms to the doors of Death.”

Jason, Piper (Jason’s girlfriend) & Leo (Jason’s best friend) go to to the Wilderness school (a school for trouble kids). The only problem is that Jason has no clue who he is, who anyone else is, or even how he got on the bus they are all on. When the monsters attack, Jason and the Coach from the Wilderness school jump into action. Jason has no clue how he knows the names of the creatures attacking them or how he knows that the coin in his pocket will help defeat them. When the fight is over the three are picked up by a very angry Annabeth. When they get to Camp Half blood Jason feels he does not belong, Piper is afraid someone will find out her secret, and Leo is cracking jokes and having a good time until he finds out he is one in a million. These three friends are on a great adventure and will have to find the other four heroes that will join them in the Great Prophecy.

I loved the new campers and thought the whole book was spectacular! I think Leo is my favorite character and I’m so glad that Annabeth made an appearance. Piper grew on me, but Jason…I just don’t know about him. I liked his back story, but I don’t want to give too much away so I can’t go too much into what bugged me. It had to do with his feelings on certain Gods. In my opinion this story opens up whole new worlds of possibilities.

Percy Jackson is a normal middle school-er with dyslexia and ADHD and then he finds out that monsters are real and he is no longer the normal kid he thought himself (and apparently he has never been normal). His best friend has the legs of a goat and a giant bull walking on two legs is out to kill him. Camp Half-Blood is his only retreat away from things that want to kill him, but Percy has a problem, the three main Gods (Zeus, Poseidon, & Hades) are about to go to war because Zeus thinks that Percy stole his master lightning bolt for Poseidon. So now Percy has a little over a week to find the master bolt, that he didn’t steal, and return it to Mt. Olympus in order to clear his name. The major problem is that he has to travel to the Underworld to find out if Hades has it.

With the movie coming out soon I gave in and read The Lightning Thief and I am so glad I did. This book had me laughing out loud and I had to stop and read parts to my friends, because it was too great not to share. Moving on to book 2 the Sea of Monsters, hope it is as great as the first. If you want a fun read then this is one you should consider! Greek Mythology made funny with an action packed story. I just hope that Percy never changes who he is. I hope the movie can stand up to the book.
