book vs movie

I finished the book I am Number Four yesterday at 7:30pm and went to the 7:45pm showing of the movie the same night. By the time that John Smith got to his locker at school I counted over 25 differences from the book. This was only about the first 10 – 15 mins of the movie. I stopped counting differences when I hit 50, only a few mins later and tried to watch as if I had not read the book. I’m sorry to say I failed. I loved the book!  I thought it was a great young Superman discovering his powers novel with chase scenes and a romance thrown in. The movie kept the gist of what happened in the book, but left out so much that people who see it that didn’t read the book are most likely going to feel something is missing and people who did read the book are probably going to be upset that so much was changed. (Like Blood & Chocolate or the Lightning Thief).  I thought some of the changes where good, but not complete. I think the actors did a good job, even though it seemed like some of them (and the writers) failed to read the book prior to filming.

I’d love to hear from everyone else on this as I have mixed feelings about the movie.

So cool, but very much a mix of every teen book turned into a movie in the past few years.  But, any movie that has a “lightning cage” rocks in my opinion.   What do you all think?  Anyone see it? 

I saw this over the weekend and I have to say that it ranks up there with WallE, Up, Shrek, Ice Age, & Monsters Inc.  I found the minions adorable and funny.  If you want a good movie for everyone in the family then this is one to see.   The movie previews only show some of the funny moments there are so many more in this film.  I saw it in 3D and in my opinion it was worth it.

With this movie coming out I am re-reading the book.  Death, despair, a birthday, and a wedding; all of this within the first few chapters and then there is the search for the horcrux’s and later the hallows.

I saw the movie Friday Night.  The screaming fans were a lot to take in for some of the movie goers, but over all going to the movie opening night is always fantastic.  I got to see fans of the books show just how much they love the characters in a large group setting.  The movie met most of my expectations and I think I have finally come to grasps with the “sparkling” that they do… but when the Pack came out in their cut offs and nothing else I could only hear the screams of what seemed like hundreds of screaming girls. 

When I saw Twilight on the Big Screen I waited a while before going.  Still when I went to see it there were fans screaming and one teen even went up and petted the screen before the movie started.  This time there were only massive amounts of screaming fans and no open seats.  Opening Night is an experience that everyone should have at least once.  Especiallywhen it is a movie like Twilight or New Moon.   I loved the movie, but I think that you have to at least see the first one to get the whole point of it across.
