Movie – Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

OK, I know this is not the movie poster, but it is the cover of book 2. I went to the midnight showing of this movie on Thursday and I have to say this movie is one that speaks to everyone in the Nintendo Generation (my generation) all the way to today’s Generation. There are so many great lines from this movie that it will be hard to pick a favorite to be my new ring tone. It kept me laughing and smiling for 2 hours!

It’s about a 23 year old guy named Scott Pilgrim whose ex-girlfriend did a number on him. Now that he’s gotten over the major trauma of the relationship he is dating a high school girl named Knives. He is happy with his life: being between jobs, living with a roommate who owns everything in the apartment (and makes sure that Scott knows it), and rocking with his band everyday. Then one day a girl with pink hair starts rollerblading through his dreams. When he starts seeing her at parties and at the library he must talk to her. And so the stalking begins! Ramona Flowers is a delivery girl with 7 evil exes that have ganged up to kill Scott so that Ramona will get back with Gideon. And it is thus that starts off the battles.

This movie was very Mario Brothers meets Mortal Kombat, meets (lets face it) every awsome nintendo game ever!

sigh. i was so hoping to have an excuse to make my hair pink or blue or something equally exotic, unusual and unnatural. but the challenge set to the Aurora area teens has gone unmet. sigh.
what kind of challenge does it take to get teens to log the time you read (we KNOW you guys are reading!)?! how can we make it more enticing for you to join in the Summer Reading program?

Pretty in Pink Contest

We are about half way to our 600 teens goal!!!

If you are a teen and want to see Hannah at Main, Angie at Eola, Pat at West , & Ginger at the Bookmobile all dye their hair whatever color wins the poll on the right side of the screen, then get to Level 4 of the summer reading program before the 7th!!!! You read 6 hours you get prizes. If you can read 24 hour between now and Saturday then you can make it to level 4! REMEMBER, You can only turn in one level per day!!! So cool, but very much a mix of every teen book turned into a movie in the past few years. But, any movie that has a “lightning cage” rocks in my opinion. What do you all think? Anyone see it?

Movie – Despicable Me

I saw this over the weekend and I have to say that it ranks up there with WallE, Up, Shrek, Ice Age, & Monsters Inc. I found the minions adorable and funny. If you want a good movie for everyone in the family then this is one to see. The movie previews only show some of the funny moments there are so many more in this film. I saw it in 3D and in my opinion it was worth it.
