The Compound by S. A. Bodeen

This is a great book! Eli’s dad had planned for the day that the world blew up. Eli and his family have been living in the compound for 6 years, everyone that is except Eddy, his twin, and Grams. From the start things have gone wrong. Dad keeps claiming that they don’t have contact with the outside world (if it’s still there), Mom’s worried, which has Eli re-examining everything dad has told him. Stephanie has crafted a wonderful story about survival, loyalty, trust, betrayal, and love. Eli’s character is well developed and believable. She wrote the first draft of this as a participant in NaNoWriMo (Nation Novel Writing Month). This is her first teen novel. I think it’s outstanding.
