Dru travels the continent with her father hunting all the things that go bump in the night.  Blessed with “the touch,” as her grandmother called her gift, she helps her dad see what only those with her gift can see, elements of the real world that help them survive.  Like her grandmother’s owl that shows up when something deadly is about to happen.  Now in this new snow covered town her father is after something that he thinks is too dangerous to take her with him.  After he leaves to hunt Dru is worried.  She KNOWS something bad is going to happen, but she goes to school.  She meets a nerdy-wanna-be-goth kid who tries to be her friend, but she goes home after school to wait for her dad.  And when the tapping on the window of the kitchen starts she KNOWS from the taste of oranges in her mouth that whatever is outside is from the real world and wants to kill her.   This one moment sends Dru and spiral of emotions, near death escapes, and ends up allowing her to make a friend.   But will Dru and her new found friend be able to survive the attacks from the real world?  Will she be able to find out what really happened to her father?

I listened to this on audio and I have to say that it was really good!  Suspenseful until the end.  It has a Buffy the Vampire Slayer feel to it that I loved.  The 2nd book is out and the 3rd should be out soon.  If you like the whole demon slayer type of book then read this series.
