Virginia has never really blended well standing next to her family. All of them are tall, thin, & love the French language. She is shorter, pumper, & would rather learn Chinese. She attends the same school her prefect brother went to before he left for Columbia University. Virginia’s best friend has been taken to Walla Walla Washington so her father can write a book about potatoes. Virginia has nobody left to talk to about the big issues. Secret roundavous with a boy named Froggy are her weekly highlights. With her parents presuring her to loose weight can Virginia learn to take control of her life? Will she be able to survive high school as the chubby girl?
This book is incredibly funny. It doesn’t hold anything back!!! I related to Virginia on several levels and think most of us will, if we sit down and get to know her.

i really liked this book because of the strength of the central character’s…ummm…character. she was hard on herself, but also rather practical in her approach to that tough standard. and it’s that strength that gets her to where she is in the end.
vague, i know, but i don’t want to spoil it for anybody.
