my name is Angie Baugher. i work at the exciting (most of the time), energetic, and busy Eola Road Branch Library. i love my job, and the people i work with and the teens i see and talk to.
i spend a lot of my work day in the Teen Room, surrounded by all the thrilling books i wish i could just download into my brain (like in the book Feed). i’m not as fast a reader as Hannah.
here’s some random stuff about me:
i’ve been reading almost compulsively since i was taught how to. Fantasy, mystery, Science Fiction (especially post-apocalyptic style) are my three favorite genres (types). but i generally read anything put in front of me. Except maybe romance. it tends to stick in my craw. give me a car repair manual instead, plz.
i love being outside (more when it’s warm out).
i like to exercise, but haven’t really done it in several months.
i love the beach (any beach). my idea of that kind of fun is getting wet, lying in the sun with a book, drying out and falling asleep until i’m too hot, then going back in to cool off for the next segment of my book/nap.
i don’t like shopping,
i don’t usually watch movies.
i loooove animals. my favorite animal is the cat. i surround myself with them.
my boyfriend has traveled all over the world. he fed stray cats in France and Russia. (He loves cats too)
i have two WILD and beautiful teenage daughters, and one beautiful and assertive grand-daughter.
i’m from the Dirty South–Alabama.
i’ve dyed my hair every natural color possible, and used food coloring once to do a splotchy rainbow.
I had a mowhawk when i was 15.
i’ve fallen off several horses, sometimes at high speeds.
in the kitchen, my best friend is the espresso maker. my second best friend is the microwave.
I can’t sing without hurting people’s ears.
i like bringing books home to my kids and seeing them read them, then ask for more.
i make stupid, sometimes imcomprehensible, jokes. i love puns.
i wrecked the first car i ever owned running a red light, swerving ALL the way to the other side of the road then back, to finish in the front lawn of the local police station. I was late for my first ballet class that day.
i love chocolate.
I can get thirsty. VERY thirsty. VERY suddenly.
green is my favorite color.
i smell things. alot. sometimes this makes other people feel weird.
i think the internet is the best thing since peanut butter, and like to imagine myself as a character in a Star Trek backstory.
i like how email has changed the way we type. like being able to leave out capitalizing the first word of every sentence.
